10 Tips for Protecting Your Gabb Phone
Your Gabb Phone™ isn’t a toy. It’s a valuable piece of technology that you have been trusted with! It’s important to prevent your device from getting broken or lost.
If you drop it and crack the screen, you may have to continue using it as is. Some features might not work correctly after that.
If you lose your phone, not only will you not have a phone, but your personal information is also in danger. In the wrong hands, things like your text messages and saved phone numbers could put you or your family and friends at risk.
Don’t risk it. Use common sense and keep your Gabb Phone safe with these nine tips:
Keep your phone in its case
There are lots of cool phone cases that fit your Gabb Phone. Ask your parents to help you choose one that will cushion your phone if it falls and stay on no matter what.
Once the case is on, keep it on! Don’t take your phone out of its case unless you need to access the battery or SIM card.
Apply a screen protector
A screen protector is a clear film that goes over your phone’s screen. It lets you use your phone like normal without getting fingerprints, dust, and grime all over your screen! Apply one as soon as you get it to keep your phone in mint condition.
Applying a screen protector can be tricky. Ask your parents for help. Here’s what to do:
-
Clean your screen
If your screen isn’t clean, your screen protector will trap dirt. Use the microfiber cloth so you don’t scratch your screen.
-
Apply the gel
Now that your screen is clean, apply the Original Edition Gel and spread it evenly over your screen.
-
Get your screen protector ready
Take your screen protector out of the box. Test out where you will put it. When you’re ready, remove the adhesive back and place your screen protector in just the right spot. Make sure it doesn’t cover up the front camera or hang over the sides.
-
Remove bubbles
Air bubbles may be trapped between your screen and protector. Use the squeegee or your thumb to push bubbles to the closest edge until they’re gone.

Beware of heights
Even a fall from your hands to the ground is a long way for your phone! To avoid dropping your phone, keep a firm grip on it. Don’t hold it over ledges. Never take it out when you’re somewhere high up — like on a Ferris wheel.
Keep it dry
Your phone and water don’t mix. Leave it somewhere safe and dry while you’re swimming, on a boat, or in the bathtub.
Put it away when you play
Bouncing balls, running kids — there are lots of risks to your phone on the playground! Keep it in a safe place, like your backpack, while you’re at play.
Give it a home
To avoid losing your phone and keep it safe, pick designated spots to keep it when you’re in common places. Here are a few ideas:
At home: Keep it in the living room or on a countertop. Don’t use it over dinner or in bed!
At school: Keep it in your backpack. This is safer than your pocket.
At a friend’s house: Keep it in your bag, pocket, or on a table by the door so you don’t forget it when you leave.
Limit access
Your phone contains private information. Set a password so only you and your parents can use it.
Your phone also has a fingerprint reader. Setting it up is easy. Simply hold your finger to the sensor near the back camera. Unlocking your phone with just a touch is fast and easy!
Beware of downloads
From a computer, you can download files like songs onto a microSD card. If you’re on the Gabb Plus Plan, you can download photos from text messages.
Be careful! Downloading unknown files is an easy way to pick up malware, or software that can mess up your phone.
Keep your phone up to date
From time to time, your phone will ask you to update its operating system. Keeping your phone updated keeps it as secure as possible.
Get an extended warranty
Your phone comes with a one-year warranty. But that’s only for manufacturing issues, not damage.
Need extra protection? Ask your parents about an extended warranty for your phone. This is for damage, not normal wear and tear. Even the safest users make mistakes!
Your Gabb Phone is sturdy, but it can still break. Use these tips to take care of it!
