Y'all need a notes app for the phone

  • Michael Tembrina on Jan 11, 2022 10:25 PM

We love Gabb Wireless but when will you allow curated apps for my teen - he needs Outlook, Spotify, Google Maps. Troomi and PinWheel already have this and I’m hoping you add it soon to the Gabb Portal.

  • Taya on Feb 06, 2022 10:59 AM

I wish i could get one but in order for me to get one i have to get straight A's all semester and wait till next october and save up all the money for it.

  • Gabb on Mar 21, 2022 11:34 AM

Taya! We are rooting for you. You can do it!

  • Bradley Colin on Mar 23, 2022 05:46 PM

I'm a little surprised that the Z2 has no NOTEPAD in it's suite of apps. To me this is a basic piece of smartphone functionality. Hope they fix this problem soon.

  • Gabb on Mar 30, 2022 01:08 PM

This is great feedback! Thank you for sharing, Bradley.

  • Shay on Apr 06, 2022 06:20 PM

Does the Gabb Wireless allow Dexcom apps? My younger sister is in need of a phone that is safe but is diabetic.

  • Gabb on Apr 20, 2022 09:48 AM

We currently do not have app capabilities--but we will absolutely keep this in mind in our future developments!

  • Joe on May 03, 2022 09:44 AM

I tried loading some movies and TV shows on the Z2, but the sound does not work.

  • Janis Erickson on May 03, 2022 11:16 AM

What is Gab guard, and is it a monthly bill?

  • Gabb on May 03, 2022 11:37 AM

Hi Janis, Gabb Guard is the next step in providing advanced spam blocking technology for Gabb Phones to stop spam calls and texts from reaching kids’ Gabb devices. It is automatically added to your monthly plan for $0.99/month.

  • Gabb on May 03, 2022 11:49 AM

Hi Joe, Our devices are not meant for loading movies and TV shows so there will likely be some errors. You could try making sure the volume is working on the device--otherwise we do not have a way to troubleshoot this as the device is not meant to have that capability to begin with.

  • Grace on May 06, 2022 04:39 AM

Hello. My teen managed to lock their phone to a finger print and pattern code for getting into her phone. I'm concerned about risky text messages. Is there any way to access it without losing her data? Thanks.

  • Gabb on May 10, 2022 11:09 AM

Hi Grace, for your child's' security there is the option for fingerprint locking mode. This is to protect their personal information and data. It is a good idea to have an understanding of openness with your child and talk about what they are doing on their phone. There is currently no way for you as a parent to unlock it if they have the fingerprint enabled, but this is something we will bring up to our product team. Thank you for the feedback.

  • James on May 17, 2022 11:06 PM

As a parent can I see and monitor what my child is doing and read there texts.

  • Joe on May 28, 2022 06:25 PM

Can you add a second parent for location monitoring? Or can only one parent pair with the Gabb Phone through the MyGabb app.

  • Gabb on May 31, 2022 09:28 AM

Hi there, currently, the best way to monitor your child's texts is to regularly take inventory of the phone. Some parents have a "check-in" period where they can take a look at the phone to see and make sure their child is messaging appropriately.

  • Gabb on May 31, 2022 09:37 AM

Hi Joe, when you add a contact as a guardian, they can also view locations on the My Gabb app.

  • Elliana on Jun 09, 2022 10:20 PM

PLEASE add a notes app, it is very frustrating to not have one. Also, why is playlists, searching artists, and searching songs a Gabb Music Plus feature? I feel like this is a basic thing for a music app and it should not have to be paid extra for.

  • Gabb on Jun 14, 2022 10:18 AM

Hi Elliana, the Gabb Phone Plus has a notes app because we knew that was something parents and kids were asking for. For music, we wanted to have a few options for kids to choose from so it sounds like the Gabb Phone Plus may be the best fit for you so it includes the features you want.

  • Julie Whee!ock on Jun 27, 2022 05:23 PM

Would the gabb phone allow a tuner app on it? My Son uses it for his drunk lessons. Or overnight use it for the guitar.

  • Gabb on Jun 28, 2022 12:07 PM

Hi Julie, right now that is not something we have available or in the works but we will absolutely send this suggestion to our team. They value parent feedback and will look into how a tuner app can work on the devices!

  • Carol Spann on Jul 15, 2022 10:22 AM

Hi, Can kids call anyone, or can phone numbers be put in or that those are the only numbers that they can call and receive. Thank you

  • Joel Walenza-Slabe on Jul 18, 2022 05:50 PM

My kids use Gabb and would like a swype text option. It's fast and far more ergo friendly then hunt and peck mode.

  • Michelle on Jul 19, 2022 11:27 AM

Please make your phones compatible with the dexcom follow app! My middle school daughter has a gabb phone and we love it, but my younger six year old daughter is in need of a phone (she has type 1 diabetes). She currently uses an old ipod mini to carry around so the dexcom app can share her blood sugar with the school nurse and myself, but she needs to be hooked up to WiFi and she would have much more freedom with a cellphone. I'm trying hard not to get her a smart phone, I'm really hoping gabb wireless contacts someone at dexcom to figure this out for type 1 diabetic children! Everyone type 1 child I know has a smartphone- we could do better though! Please!!

  • Gabb on Jul 26, 2022 12:05 PM

Hi Carol, great question. Kids who have the phone can call any contacts that have been added to the phone. Kids who have the watch are allowed 25 parent-approved phone numbers to be able to contact.

  • Gabb on Jul 26, 2022 12:09 PM

Thank you for the feedback, Joel. We will make sure our team gets this. We value your input!

  • Gabb on Jul 27, 2022 03:14 PM

Thank you for this feedback, Michelle. We want to make our phones useful for every kid and we have taken this information to our team. I know that with our Gabb Phone Plus they are looking into getting an app that can help with these kinds of cases. We appreciate your support!

  • Jodi on Jul 28, 2022 02:17 AM

My son is also type 1 diabetic. Having a phone like this would be great. Please make it compatible with Dexcom and our family would definitely be your customer.

  • Robin on Jul 28, 2022 02:58 PM

I'm with Michelle and Shay! If you could offer connection with the Dexcom apps (Dexcom, Clarity, and Follow) I would get this in a heartbeat for my 10 year old son who has diabetes. I'm not ready for him to have any kind of iPhone, and I know other families with Type 1 kids who feel the same way. Dexcom works with several kinds of phones but none of them are kid-friendly like Gabb. Please consider it!

  • Gabb on Jul 28, 2022 04:37 PM

Thank you for the feedback. This is something we will definitely send to our product team!

  • Gabb on Jul 28, 2022 04:42 PM

This is something our team is now aware of and would like to implement if there is a safe way to do so. Thank you for the feedback! We always appreciate parent input.

  • Gabb on Jul 28, 2022 05:33 PM

Yes, please make this compatible with the Dexcom. My daughter is 9 and a Type 1 diabetic We would love to have a safe smartphone for her.

  • Gabb on Aug 01, 2022 02:56 PM

Thank you for your feedback. Our team is aware of how important this is to our users!

  • Samantha Mill on Aug 01, 2022 11:43 PM

You should make an update for the Gabb phone to have a notes app, as a young teen I like to take notes and just write thing that I need to remember down, but not having it is frustrating.

  • Gabb on Aug 02, 2022 09:21 AM

Thank you for your feedback. We felt the same way which is why our Gabb Phone Plus offers a notes app. You can use code BACKTOSCHOOL for $50 off any device this month.

  • Jane on Aug 04, 2022 10:01 AM

Can you please let me know if only contacts added to a child's phone can call or text, or can other family members that have the child's number, but maybe their number might not be saved in the phone be able to get through?

  • Peter on Aug 11, 2022 10:33 AM

Is there a list somewhere of what curated third-party apps are currently available on the Gabb Phone Plus?

  • Gabb on Aug 15, 2022 01:58 PM

On the phone, any number who has the child's phone number can contact the child. On the watch, only the 25 approved contacts can reach the child.

  • Gabb on Aug 15, 2022 02:03 PM

There is still a fluid timeline and no list is currently available but we are getting this done as soon as we can. Our top priority is to make sure that any app kids have access to is completely safe.

  • Krissy Ferrant on Aug 21, 2022 01:39 PM

NOT JUST FOR KIDS! So, I have a daughter with cognitive delays and the safety of this phone will be great all the way through adulthood! I am probably going to get one for her to try it out! Its more simple without the constant need to be "glued to the screen" even as she gets older and starts to form more independence. With that said, I want to second the opinion to have a notepad of sorts as it will be a great way for her to stay organized with grocery lists (when its hard for her to write) or other notes of importance!

  • Gabb on Aug 22, 2022 09:38 AM

Hi Krissy! Thank you for your feedback. You are absolutely right, this phone can be used by anyone. We're so glad you've found an option for your daughter. The Gabb Phone Plus comes with a notes app that would be perfect for making lists and organizing information.

  • Tammy on Aug 22, 2022 11:00 AM

I second the need for a kid friendly phone that is compatible with Dexcom. I am not ready to give my 4 year old a full cell phone, but it would help give me some peace of mind knowing I could monitor her T1 diabetes while I'm at work. Please consider adding any medical app like Dexcom to the approved apps!

  • Gabb on Aug 25, 2022 11:59 AM

Hi Tammy, thank you for reaching out! This is something our team is very aware of. We are looking into options to see how it could work with our software. Thank you for your input!

  • Miriam Hoach on Aug 29, 2022 04:25 PM

Do you have maps on the gabb phone plus or are you planning on having that app added? Would make it very handy for my son that is driving but likes the gabb phone. Thanks.

  • Kyle on Sep 08, 2022 07:37 PM

Considering this for my sons first phone. Is the fm radio app able to connect to any local radio station? Do parents have control over what stations? Also, how are songs loaded onto the phone?

  • Marianna on Sep 09, 2022 06:14 PM

For the phone, is there a way to block callers that aren’t approved from calling?

  • Gabb on Sep 15, 2022 09:41 AM

Hi Miriam, we currently do not have a maps app but it is something our team is working on and it will be included on the Gabb Phone Plus!

  • Gabb on Sep 15, 2022 09:45 AM

Hi Kyle, Gabb Music allows your kids to listen to clean music. Similar to other streaming apps, Gabb Music can be downloaded on to the device and there are millions of songs to choose from. The hits, not explicits.

  • Gabb on Sep 15, 2022 09:49 AM

Hi there, any spam number will be automatically blocked. Otherwise, this link shows a step-by-step on how to block numbers on the Gabb Phone. https://support.gabbwireless.com/hc/en-us/articles/6358292833687-Blocking-Unblocking-Phone-Numbers

  • CRD on Sep 15, 2022 10:14 AM

Does the Remind App work on the Gabb phone?

  • Gabb on Sep 19, 2022 04:23 PM

Great question! It does not, but we will bring this up with our team. In the future, productivity apps will be added as options for the Gabb Phone Plus.

  • Rae on Sep 24, 2022 12:16 PM

Can you please tell me what the radiation reading is on a Gabb phone?

  • Diane on Sep 24, 2022 08:11 PM

Are there any plans to make this phone available in Canada? I need something for my developmentally delayed teenager that is safe!

  • Gabb on Sep 26, 2022 10:12 AM

Hi Diane, We would eventually love to be available in Canada. Right now, we are only available in the US and we do not have immediate plans to expand but we are always working on global expansion. Every kid needs to be protected with safe tech.

  • rex on Oct 11, 2022 08:36 PM

what are the functions of Gabb Phone Plus.

  • Gabb on Oct 13, 2022 04:00 PM

Hi Rex! Thanks for your curiosity about the Gabb Phone Plus! For more info on the functions, check out our Gabb Phone Plus Page or this blog!

  • Thomas on Oct 19, 2022 04:25 PM

Why can’t we delete any texts? This is really stupid!!!

  • Gabb on Oct 20, 2022 12:10 PM

Hi Thomas, thank you for your feedback. We will take it to our product team!

  • Allen on Oct 25, 2022 10:12 PM

I would like to see a feature added where a parent can designate contacts that can allow the download and sending of .gif messages or memes. My daughter has a close friend with an iPhone and can not get many of these messages. I understand that they come with some security and inappropriate content risks. That is why it would be nice to have a toggle that needs to be activated within the specific contact info.

  • Gabb on Oct 27, 2022 04:50 PM

Allen, we appreciate you reaching out and bringing this to our attention. This is something we have passed along to our product team. We appreciate any and all feedback from our Gabb parents. The safety of kids is and always will be our number one priority and if we can add these types of features while still staying safe, we will gladly do so!

  • Tyler on Nov 02, 2022 05:56 AM

    I really like the Gabb phone, but it needs a note app. However, I do like the voice recorder and FM radio, and the Gabb Phone Plus doesn't have these apps. I did, however, create a "GabbPad" to take a note in and then take a screenshot to save. Paste the text inside quotes (") in a text editor (Notepad, Text Edit, etc.): " Gabbpad .tabs { position: relative; display: block; margin: 1em auto 0; width: 99%; } .tab { float: left; width: 20%; height: 25%; } .tab label { cursor: pointer; background: rgb(2,0,36); background: linear-gradient(rgba(202,251,255,1) 0%, rgba(0,212,255,1) 100%); font-size: 2.45em; width: 20%; height: 15%; border-radius: 20px 20px 0 0; padding: 0.5em 1em; } .tab [type=radio] { position: absolute; clip: rect(0, 0, 0, 0); width: 20%; height: 25%; } .tab [type=radio]:checked ~ label { background: rgba(0,212,255,1) } .tab [type=radio]:checked ~ label ~ .content { z-index: 1; } .content { background: aliceblue; border: 1px solid black; border-radius: 0 5px 5px; position: absolute; width: 100%; height: 4000px; top: 4em; left: 0; right: 0; bottom: 0; } body { font-family: monospace; font-size: 1.1em; } .texta { width: 99%; height: 40000px; font-size: 57px; font-family: Calibri; } Tab A Tab B Tab C Tab D Tab E " Save the file as "Gabbpad.html" and put it on the Gabb Phone.

  • Gabb on Nov 07, 2022 03:25 PM

Thank you for the feedback, we will make sure our team sees this.

  • John M on Nov 14, 2022 09:52 PM

Add us to the list of folks wishing for compatibility with Dexcom or similar glucose monitoring apps for type 1 diabetic children. Our son has been using the Gabb watch for a year. Recently he was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. We'd love to keep using Gabb products as we add Dexcom to our lives, but need assurance of Dexcom compatibility.

  • Chris on Nov 15, 2022 07:55 PM

I want one of these for myself actually as well as for my kid — but it needs a maps/GPS! Please include in the update!

  • Tyler on Nov 17, 2022 08:51 AM

Sorry, that code doesn't work. Also, if it doesn't have it yet, perhaps add a Christmas genre to Gabb Music?

  • Gabb on Nov 17, 2022 04:42 PM

Thank you John! We appreciate your feedback and we definitely take all of these requests to our team.

  • Gabb on Nov 17, 2022 04:43 PM

Hi Chris, that is in the works! Thank you for the feedback. Stay tuned.

  • K.W. on Nov 25, 2022 10:23 PM

Has anyone with dementia/Alz had luck using this phone?

  • Heather Wick on Nov 27, 2022 09:10 PM

Thank you for taking the requests for a Dexcom/Type 1 diabetic compatible phone seriously. Sadly, the number of children being diagnosed is growing exponentially, and has accelerated since COVID. As the mother of a 13-year old boy with Type 1 there is no way for him to play sports, attend sleepovers, etc without the app, but hate that he has to have an IPhone. We will switch as soon as you have this functionality. And BTW if your Biz Dev is not aware of Dr. Leonard Sax you should be. He could be a great advocate or partner for Gabb. (No connection - just heard him speak once).

  • Gabb on Nov 28, 2022 12:13 PM

Hi there. This is a great question! Both adults and kids use our devices. Their level of competence is always a factor on whether or not the device will work for them.

  • Gabb on Nov 28, 2022 12:16 PM

Thank you for your feedback and valuable information here. We will make sure our team sees it. This is something they are working hard to see if it's possible to implement.

  • John on Dec 07, 2022 12:02 PM

Can we block 911 as my son has an issue with calling them, phone or watch Thank you

  • Gabb on Dec 13, 2022 05:23 PM

Hi John, the phones themselves allow kids to block numbers but there is not a way for you as a parent to block a number.

  • Lisa on Dec 17, 2022 11:14 PM

Hi, is there a way to use the phone without using the fingerprint lock? We don't prefer to add fingerprints to devices. Thank you.

  • Gabb on Dec 19, 2022 04:53 PM

Hi Lisa, this feature is optional and can be disabled on the Gabb Phone so that it only needs to use a passcode.

  • Allison on Dec 28, 2022 08:35 AM

Hi! Is there a way for a parent to add text message prompts for the Gabb watch such as “all done with chore”? Google has failed me. Thanks!

  • Gabb on Dec 29, 2022 09:29 AM

Hi Allison, there is no way to add message prompts that send automatically but you could certainly set up manual ones. With the task manager, you can add specific tasks that they can check off once they are completed.

  • Andreas on Jan 04, 2023 08:21 PM

My son’s phone is showing memory full, at 31.7gb of 32gb storage. Checking the data usage in Settings reveals that 21gb is being used by Gallery… but my son only has a few photos, in the Gallery. What could be consuming all the storage space?

  • Gabb on Jan 05, 2023 03:55 PM

Hi Andreas, there may be something more going on and we would love to help you troubleshoot. Please head to our website and hop on our online chat so we can better help you.

  • Wendy Raatz on Jan 09, 2023 08:55 PM

My daughter wants to create her own Gabb account. What are the pluses and minuses for letting her do this?

  • Gabb on Jan 10, 2023 11:44 AM

Hi Wendy, if you are referring to Gabb ID, it should be set up as the "child's account. We suggest against making the account holder the child's name because the adult should usually be the one managing it and contacting us.

  • Vicki on Jan 13, 2023 10:08 AM

Are there any other phone chargers that work with the gabb phone? I want to get an extra one to have at father's house as well as mine.

  • Ann Lopez on Jan 16, 2023 11:47 AM

Hi is there an app for children to research academic information, like the meaning of words or something similar that they could use at school or for homework

  • Gabb on Jan 17, 2023 05:25 PM

There is not yet, Ann. But this is something that we will make sure our team sees as you are not the only person who has requested this.

  • Carys Adams on Jan 24, 2023 03:48 PM

Hi I think your team should add apps for a car ride or something to do that's like a game of some sort like the bored button or some color-by-number games

  • Gabb on Jan 26, 2023 10:56 AM

Hi Carys, thank you for reaching out. Anything we add to our devices must be safe for kids and distraction-free. This is great feedback and we will make sure our team sees it. If it falls under that criteria, they will look into adding something like that.

  • Hannah on Feb 03, 2023 09:30 AM

Would it be possible to make a App Store with all safe apps that would be AMAZING I know it would take some time but I would love it thanks

  • Adam on Feb 03, 2023 10:32 AM

I don't know how you (Gabb) considers this a smart phone. It's about as dumb as a flip phone without internet. You need to upgrade your features and include a notepad and larger keys on the keyboard. The Z2 is terrible. If you want an actual smartphone made for kids with great security, go with Bark Phone. You'll ask why you chose Gabb in the first place.

  • Gabb on Feb 03, 2023 04:21 PM

Thank you! Right now, there is an "app store" for parents to choose which apps they would like their kids to use. This is something we will continue to add to as we release more safe apps.

  • Gabb on Feb 03, 2023 04:22 PM

Hi Adam, there is a notes app on both the Gabb Phone and Gabb Phone Plus. We appreciate your feedback. These phones are meant to be the first phone for kids. We do not compare them to smartphones because they are drastically different in that they are made for kids from the ground up.

  • Julie P on Apr 01, 2023 07:44 AM

Chiming in on the need to include medical apps such as those compatible with Dexcom for Type 1 diabetic kids. You keep saying that you are working on it. Is there any sort of time frame for completion at this point?

  • Gabb on Apr 03, 2023 03:24 PM

Hi Julie, we understand how important these would be for kids. Unfortunately, we do not have a time frame for this yet! Keep an eye out on our website and social media channels!

  • Natalie Hernandez on Apr 10, 2023 02:43 PM

I have an important question. Our family is going on a cruise in just a few short days, which means my daughter will be off with her cousins on another part of a boat. On cruises, you cant use mobile data to call or text but you must be connected to an internet connection from within the boat. How would i be able to contact my daughter, if the phone doesnt connect to the internet to make communication? Is the gabb phone able to be used on cruise ships where you must sign in to have internet?

  • Gabb on Apr 10, 2023 04:03 PM

Hi Natalie! This is a great question. The device can be used on Wi-fi for calling and texting! However, if you will be out of the country the device will not work. Here is a brief article on how to activate Wi-fi calling and texting on your device!

  • Maggie on Apr 25, 2023 08:32 PM

why doesn't the bitmoji not work on the gabb phone plus

  • Johanna Donaldson on May 04, 2023 10:59 AM

Hi Maggie, all androids come with standard emojis. We do not have the capability to add bitmoji at this time.

Hi. Our Gab Z2 phone screen glass broke as it took a small tumble off our bathroom countertop. It still works but im not sure for how long, and for any reasonable use without getting glass in ones fingertips. Is there a way of aquiring a gab z2 glass/display? Method to fix?

Hi, I was wondering why the Gabb Phone does not have the capability to communicate with emails. I've tried with two people, and it seriously hinders my communication. Is there a way for this to work?

Also, whenever I try to log into my Gabb ID account, it says there is a 'network issue,' and to try again later. This is awfully frustrating, as I can't use Gabb Music without being logged in. PLEASE FIX!

Hi my son has locked himself out of his phone many times by changing his password and forgetting. Is there any way you can add an option to get back into the device without a factory reset? This would be extremely helpful

Can you add a second parent for location monitoring? Or can only one parent pair with the Gabb Phone through the MyGabb app.

  • Gabb on Jun 26, 2023 02:16 PM

Great question! Both parents are able to monitor their Gabb users location! One will be the primary and the other can be the Guardian Contact. Both are able to have access to the Gabb user's location. Here is an article for more information about Guardian contacts: https://gabb.com/support/?a=How-to-add-another-parent-or-guardian-contact-using-the-MyGabb-app---id--WdHB7nawT-qFI-1Am249pg
